NFL fans claim Simone Biles ‘should be stripped of all her medals’ over major wardrobe malfunction as Olympic gymnast cheers on husband Jonathan Owens

Simone Biles drew the ire of NFL fans with her fashion choices on Saturday as she watched her husband Jonathan Owens of the Chicago Bears practice.

Fresh from wowing crowds in Paris with three gold medals and a silver, the Olympic gymnast got in some NFL prep action as she cheered on her loved one at the Bears’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

However, attentive NFL fans were furious when the 27-year-old committed a fashion faux pas during football.

The Olympic legend was spotted on the sidelines at Soldier Field wearing an oversized jacket printed with black and white photos of her NFL husband.

However, the various snaps featured Owens in action for the Green Bay Packers – the Bears’ longtime rivals and his former team. To top it all off, a large Packers logo stood out on the shoulder pad.

As she strolled courtside, Biles also wore a protective boot on her left foot, which caused her a calf injury at the Olympics. She completed the look with reflective silver sunglasses, a black Prada bucket hat and a Balenciaga handbag.

Despite her attempts to make a touching and supportive gesture toward Owens, Biles found herself caught in one of the league’s most bitter rivalries and her fans were less than impressed.

“Simone Biles should be stripped of all her medals after wearing Packers gear while cheering on the Bears,” posted one social media user on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Yeah, yeah, I get it, your husband played for the Packers and it’s an Owens-themed jacket, but that’s just wrong.”

Others echoed this sentiment, questioning Biles’ apparent lack of knowledge about soccer.

“With all due respect, Simone Biles needs to throw that jacket in the trash ASAP,” claimed another. “How did she get in there with it on?”

“She obviously supports her husband Jonathan Owens and she’s one of the greatest Olympians so she gets a free pass… but it’s still one of the oldest rivalries in all of football and she rocks #GoPackGo logos lol,” posted Chase Daniel of The Athletic.

“Release your husband immediately!” chimed in one particularly angry Bears fan, while another added, “This is ridiculously unaware of those around you and an insult to your husband.”

Owens played one season in Green Bay last year before moving down Lake Michigan to Chicago earlier this year.

While his better half was preparing for her hunt for gold in Paris, the safety signed a two-year contract with the Bears in March, worth an estimated $4.5 million.

The gymnast seemed pleased with her partner’s change and celebrated the deal in a series of tweets.

“CHICAGO, HE’S COMING,” she posted, before apparently revealing that she has no plans to move in with her husband permanently.

“I’m so happy I don’t have a connecting flight to visit my husband hahahaha,” she wrote in a follow-up message.

But despite her initial excitement about winning more Olympic medals, Biles doesn’t seem to have had time to update her wardrobe for competition day.

Owens seems to have settled into his new NFL chapter in Chicago well; the franchise even gave him five days off from preseason training so he could travel to Paris to watch his wife compete in the Olympics.

Owens and Biles met on the celebrity dating app Raya in 2020, when she was already a four-time Olympic champion and considered one of the greatest gymnasts of all time.

Biles and Owens became engaged in 2022 and married last April.

Owens came under criticism late last year for admitting that he did not know who Biles was before the two met.

The backlash against Owens was so intense that Biles had to intervene by posting “STOP BRINGING ME UP” on her Instagram story, followed by 14 laughing emojis and concluding, “Working on it in the new year.”
