Oasis announce reunion after Liam Gallagher confirms Reading 2024 performance

Oasis have teased a mysterious date for Reading 2024 shortly after Liam Gallagher’s headline performance – could this be the announcement of a reunion?

The Oasis singer just finished his headlining performance on the Main Stage in Reading today (August 25), giving a taste of what could happen next week.

After his set, which saw him play “Definitely Maybe” in full before the 30th anniversary reissue, the audience could see the date “08/27/24” flashing on Liam’s screens. Along with the date, “8am” could also be seen flashing.

But that’s not all – while Liam posted the date on his X/Twitter account shortly after his performance, Noel posted the exact same video on his account as well. In addition, the official Oasis account also posted the video on their own account.

Interestingly, the Blossoms just played in Manchester over the Big Bank Holiday weekend – and they too performed on the same date in exactly the same style.

Did they all just hint at the announcement date of an Oasis reunion?

Liam also dedicated “Half The World Away” to “Noel fucking Gallagher” at his headlining performance in Reading and further fuelled rumours of an Oasis reunion at his headlining performance in Leeds on Friday (23 August): “It’s very interesting, isn’t it? We’re in a very interesting situation.”

Earlier this week, Liam appeared to hint at a date for the Oasis reunion tour announcement on X/Twitter, allegedly revealing that the tour dates would be announced “next Friday.”

The two have been involved in a long-running feud since Oasis split in 2009, after the brothers clashed just hours before their headlining performance at Paris’ Rock en Seine festival.

However, The times reported yesterday (August 24) that the duo are likely to reunite to play a series of concerts reportedly planned for next year at Heaton Park and Wembley Stadium, among other venues.

Oasis are also rumored to be a possible headliner for next year’s Glastonbury Festival. If true, the gig would come 30 years after the release of their groundbreaking 1995 LP ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’.

The rumours also follow Noel’s recent praise for Liam in a conversation with John Robb, in which he said: “I can’t sing ‘Slide Away’ and ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ and ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Star’ and ‘Columbia’ and all that.”
