Oasis Makers Fair returns to Sunnyvale Hotel – The Mercury News

Trade fair for healthy manufacturers

The next Oasis Makers Fair at the TETRA Hotel in Sunnyvale will take place on August 21st, focusing on manufacturers offering personal care, healthy routines and beauty products.

The show will feature more than 20 small business owners and makers, including The Shy Plant Co., a San Jose-based maker of hand-poured eco-friendly candles that donates 100% of its profits to rebuild Kork Chann Primary School in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and November Moon Shop, a Santa Clara-based business that sells candles and home decor.

Other vendors include Franci Gire, who has been baking her Franci Cakes in her hometown of San Jose since 2014.

The Maker’s Fair will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. During a fireside chat at 6:30 p.m., guest speakers Belem Rios of Bee’s Little Shop in San Jose and Pia and Rolo of Malaya Botanicals in Alameda will talk about the importance of wellness and provide insight into their thriving small businesses.

Registration for the August 21 Oasis is strongly encouraged through Eventbrite.com. The TETRA Hotel is located at 400 W. Java Drive, Sunnyvale.

Expressway upgrades

The Lawrence Expressway between Quito and Homestead Road is slated for renovation. Rehabilitation work is expected to begin late this month or early next month and last through February 2025. Work will include resurfacing asphalt, repairing damage caused by tree roots and improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists at several intersections.

This project will improve seven intersections on the Lawrence Expressway. Three intersections will have new pedestrian sensors, accessible pedestrian signals, and new traffic cameras installed. Other intersections will also have accessible pedestrian signals, pedestrian sensors, new bicycle detection loops and wiring installed. The bridge crossing at Stevens Creek Boulevard will also be improved.
