Oasis reunion imminent, Noel and Liam Gallagher to make announcement on Tuesday | Oasis

It’s the reunion that many fans thought would never happen, but word is that an Oasis tour may even be planned for 2025.

Some of the clearest hints of a possible reunion came from the Gallagher brothers: former frontman Liam and songwriter and guitarist Noel, fueling speculation on social media.

A short clip showing the date “27.08.24” in the style of the Oasis logo was shared on both their Instagram and X accounts, as well as the official Oasis accounts, on Sunday evening. The black sign flickered and changed to “8am”.

Liam Gallagher spent most of Sunday responding to rumours about X. He wrote: “I never liked the word FORMER” and shared several newspaper articles reporting on reunion rumours. At his main performance at Reading Festival on Sunday night, he dedicated the Oasis song Half The World Away to his brother and later their hit Cigarettes & Alcohol to the people he says hate the rock band.

At the end of the performance, the same clip announcing Tuesday’s date was shown on the main screens on the stage.

According to various reports, the band will play ten nights at Wembley Stadium and ten nights at Heaton Park in Manchester. Both venues hosted some of the band’s final performances on their Dig Out Your Soul tour before they split up in 2009.

If confirmed, this would break the record set by Taylor Swift earlier this year when she played eight nights at Wembley.

When a fan posted on X that “Heaton Park is a terrible concert venue” in response to news of a possible reunion tour next year, Liam replied: “See you at the front, you fat ass.”

There is also speculation that the band could headline Glastonbury next year – their last headlining appearance in 2004 is considered one of the worst gigs of the band’s career.

But despite the 15-year gap between the two, Oasis’ popularity seems to have not waned. A generation of younger fans enjoy their music just as much as the ageing Britpop kids who came to their shows the first time.

This year, Liam Gallagher performed to sold-out crowds on a solo anniversary tour for the band’s first album, Definitely Maybe, and headlined the Reading and Leeds festivals this weekend. Next year is the 13th anniversary of the band’s big second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?

As the lineup of Oasis has evolved over the years, many fans are beginning to speculate about who exactly, other than the Gallagher brothers, might be involved in a possible reunion.

The dream of many would be the same line-up as at the height of the Oasis mania in 1995. Original guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs was a mainstay in Liam Gallagher’s solo outfit for several years, his successor Gem Archer has been guitarist in Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds since 2017, alongside later Oasis drummer Chris Sharrock.

However, original bassist Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan has not been active in the music industry since leaving Oasis in 1999, while his successor Andy Bell now plays with Oasis’ former label mates Ride and is no longer likely to take part in a possible reunion tour.

The relationship between the Gallagher brothers had long been acrimonious and they reportedly did not speak to each other for years after Noel left the band following an argument before they were due to go on stage at the Rock En Seine festival near Paris in August 2009.

However, if rumours are to be believed, the hostilities have died down. Liam hinted at a possible reconciliation back in 2017 when he tweeted on Christmas Day: “I want to wish Team NG a very Merry Christmas. It’s been a great year. Thank you for everything. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow AS YOU WERE. LG x”

It sparked rumors of a possible Oasis reunion that have never completely died down. And with speculation of a possible announcement as early as Tuesday, those rumors may finally be over.
