Obituary: Louise Rasque-Fritz | SteamboatToday.com

April 17, 1932 – August 3, 2024

Louise Rasque-Fritz was a force to be reckoned with. Although she called Steamboat Springs home for only eight years, her impact on the people she met will be felt for a lifetime. Born in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, to Meta and Walter Schenk, Louise was one of five children. She eventually met the love of her life, Rollin Rasque, at a dance where they immediately hit it off. They continued their families’ farming heritage in Wisconsin, starting with turkeys and eventually dairy cows. Always on the move, working hard and keeping a strict household, Louise also had a playful side—on nights when Rollin went out, she would rearrange the furniture, making his early morning return a challenging obstacle course. She was vivacious and full of life, with a fire in her that shone through her favorite toast: “To you, to me, and if we should ever disagree, to hell with you and me!” This was always followed by a broad smile and a mischievous twinkle in her light blue eyes.
Louise leaves behind her daughter Billie Ackerman and her partner Chip Beebee, and her grandchildren Justin and Joel Ackerman. She was funny, charming, tough; she was a complicated and wonderfully complex person – like all of us. We will miss her greatly and are grateful for the time we had with her. Louise will live on in our memories and in the stories we share.
