The Orange County Power Authority (OCPA) has announced the hiring of Louis Ting as Director of Energy Resources. In this role, Ting will serve as a senior technical advisor for energy projects and contracts. He will lead complex short- and long-term energy resource planning and procurement activities for OCPA to create a cleaner, more sustainable and reliable electric grid for OCPA’s communities and customers.

“Expanding our team with deep clean energy expertise is a top priority for us,” said CEO Joe Mosca. “We are thrilled to welcome Louis on board, especially as we continue to expand and increase our focus on long-term renewable energy sources to continue to provide affordable, stable rates to our customers.”

The Director of Energy Resources plays a critical role in steering OCPA’s procurement success and further diversifying its energy portfolio. During his tenure at LADWP, Ting was responsible for the critical transition to a clean energy future, focusing on modernizing the grid to enable clean electrification programs, implementing strategies to strengthen Los Angeles’ distribution and transmission networks, and executing key power grid programs. Ting also led an experienced team in collaboration with various stakeholders to execute a coal-to-natural gas conversion project with environmentally friendly, hydrogen-powered combined cycle power plants.

Ting graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering.
