Over 15,000 hotel employees have now completed further training at Mews University

(Amsterdam: August 27, 2024) – Mews, the industry-leading hospitality cloud, announced that over 15,000 hospitality professionals have now completed a Mews University course.

Mews University is a self-directed learning tool that helps hotel staff better understand the Mews platform so they can spend more time delivering memorable guest experiences. It offers multiple learning paths tailored to specific roles – such as front desk staff and revenue managers – so staff quickly become experts in their role.

“We love Mews University, it has become indispensable for our staff training,” said Mike Parsons, Revenue and Projects Manager at Cornwall Hotel Collection. “It is particularly useful for new team members who can get up to speed more quickly. Because it is a self-paced course, we have been able to halve our training costs and ensure consistency in our processes.”

Mews University not only helps employees use Mews effectively, but can also have a huge impact on the entire hotel business. With the hospitality industry facing ongoing staff shortages, spending less time and resources on training new talent is crucial. Equally important is creating a more engaged workforce: positive onboarding experiences make employees 18 times more committed to the company and 38% more efficient at their jobs. Mews University courses are easy to understand, with videos and interactive guides, and are available in five main languages.

Declan Fitzhenry, Managing Director at The Regent, commented: “The training at Mews University is really impressive. Not only is it a great way to teach, but it also helps us develop internal experts who know exactly how to use the PMS to achieve the best results.”

Strawberry, the largest hotel group in the Nordics, recently migrated all of its 225 hotels to the Mews platform. In addition to Mews University, the team also used the Train the Trainer program, which turns selected hotel staff into Mews experts and lets them carry out the rollout themselves. This reduced on-site training to just five hours, ensuring a smooth transition for existing staff and a quick onboarding of new team members. It also allowed Strawberry to go live with Mews in 3-5 hotels every week, meeting its ambitious rollout goals.

“We talk a lot about hospitality excellence, but ultimately it’s the front-line staff who have to make it happen,” says Matt Welle, CEO of Mews. “Mews University gives hoteliers all the tools and knowledge they need to do what they do best, while taking the burden of training and hiring away.”
