Pantone launches Pantone™ Color Insider

Pantone LLC, the global authority on color and provider of professional color tools for designers, recently announced the launch of Pantone Color Insider, an aesthetically provocative and culturally relevant color trend service that unites all areas of design around the world through the common language of color. Pantone Color Insider provides color trend forecasts and data in a balanced mix of the informative and insightful, and the inspiring and innovative, giving users insight into short- and long-term trends, as well as a macro and local view of key color stories, touching on all areas of design where color plays a role.

Available as an add-on feature in Pantone Connect, Pantone’s digital platform, Pantone Color Insider offers current users the ability to integrate trend color data and insights into their current workflow on the platform.

With trend cycles rapidly changing, giving rise to micro-trends, subcultures and new aesthetics, the creative industry is under increased pressure to stay at the forefront of trends, understand the zeitgeist while delivering innovative designs and ideas more accurately and quickly than ever before. Color trends play a key role in this process, as color increases brand recognition by 87 percent and influences up to 85 percent of product purchasing decisions. For the creative industry, color is vital, from the design and moodboarding process, to the raw materials used to make the product, to the packaging it leaves the store in. Therefore, providing key color information to support these decisions is critical.

To support this, Pantone brings together the expertise of the global visionaries of the Pantone Color Institute in a digital experience that combines inspiration with context to deliver in-depth analysis of the personality traits of new color stories, their relevance and their application across design disciplines. In addition, Pantone Color Insider has a dedicated editorial team that collects, curates and writes current color stories that influence and shape design.

Pantone Color Insider presents weekly content and data including:

  • Expert insights into trends: Strategic color intelligence and a long-term look at the influences that will impact color in the future, including macro trends, seasonal trends and key color stories that are relevant and trending to inform and inspire.

  • Color formation: Basic color knowledge to guide color usage including color theory, palette creation, psychology, color and mood, approach to product and brand color selection, trend forecasting.

  • A global color data tool which provides a quantitative overview and “pulse check” of what is happening in color around the world. This includes topline data highlighting color usage across industries and cities, giving designers insight into trending colors and the color usage of their design peers.

  • Seamless workflow integration with Pantone Connect, This allows users to create palettes from the content and transfer them into mood boards and work they currently have on the platform.

“For over 25 years, the Pantone Color Institute has been a go-to resource for brands and designers around the world looking to understand the future of color trends and make their own color decisions for brands and products. Pantone Color Insider gives us the opportunity to share much of this information and insight with our larger creative community,” says Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute. “We believe this content can help designers understand color’s relationship to global macro trends and what consumers are looking for to inspire their design decisions. This has never been more important as design is increasingly driven by color and material rather than shape and form.”

Pantone Color Insider adds another layer of actionable expertise to the Pantone Connect platform, which includes color IP that you can use to translate color into print and manufacturing to create products, packaging and physical media. From color specification to support with color blindness testing, color harmonies, palette creation, mood boards and inspiration, Pantone Connect is a design tool that integrates seamlessly with core design programs and workflows, and can also be used collaboratively across teams.

“The Pantone Connect platform has been a collaborative effort with our creative community since its launch. We’ve made sure to listen to their needs and tailor the product to support their entire design workflow,” said Jung Sin, Global Senior Director, Digital Product Management at Pantone. “Through these discussions, we realized we needed to continue supporting the research and inspiration phase of the design process as well. Pantone Color Insider will provide designers and the creative community at large with context on what’s happening in the world of color, delivering actionable data to help them make color decisions from the start of a project to ensuring color consistency and quality at the end.”

Users can get freemium access to Pantone Color Insider’s limited content and basic palette creation features, or sign up for two different user options, including: a premium subscription to Pantone Color Insider only, which includes the full suite of trend articles and information, or a bundle of Pantone Color Insider and Pantone Connect, which includes the full suite of trend and data features, as well as workflow and collaboration tools.
