Park City Chamber reports increase in hotel bookings in July and August

The Park City Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Office report that local hotel bookings increased 5% in July compared to the same period last year.

This trend continued in August, with bookings increasing by 3% year-on-year.

The data comes from the Chamber’s occupancy report, which analyzes around 20 different lodging establishments in Park City.

Prices for hotel rooms have also increased slightly compared to the same period last year.

According to Jennifer Wesselhoff, president and CEO of the Park City Chamber, hotel bookings have generally been good throughout the summer.

“Occupancy over the last six months has increased by about 3% overall and we finished those six months with an occupancy rate of about 44%,” Wesselhoff said. “Average daily rates have only increased slightly by 1% over the last six months. Looking ahead, we are at the same level over the next six months as we were this time last year.”

According to Wesselhoff, tax revenues from tourism are also increasing. Restaurant and accommodation taxes rose by 5 percent between January and July.

Despite the increased activity, the chamber expects visitor numbers to settle at an average level in the coming months, she says.

The Park City Chamber will host its annual membership meeting on September 4th at the Pendry Park City Hotel in Canyons Village. Click here for more information.
