Passengers die and miss Brazilian Voepass flight

As more information comes to light, the Voepass crash becomes more devastating. 62 people tragically die in the wreckage as the plane screeches to a halt and goes into a confusing spin. Two men in particular should be incredibly grateful to be alive. They were nearly passengers in the fatal incident in Brazil.

Recently, two passengers spoke to local media about how lucky they were not to have to board their flight. Moreover, it seems to be a classic mix-up in flight information that leads to such a delay in the first place. Apparently, a classic airline annoyance turns out to be a blessing in disguise for these two passengers.

Mix-up on Voepass flight saves the lives of two passengers

One of the passengers, Adriano Assis, explains that he is still alive today because he didn’t have his travel plan right. He doesn’t know which airline he is taking for his 11:56 a.m. flight from Cascavel to Guarulhos, nor does he see which one. Earlier in the day, he had finished his night shift at the hospital before arriving at the airport around 9:40 a.m. He believes he is flying with LATAM Airlines. However, there were no agents in sight, so he passes the time with a little coffee and relaxation.

At one point, he wonders where his flight information is on the arrival and departure signs. Then he realizes he’s made a grave mistake and rushes to join the other Voepass passengers. When Adriano arrives, the agent turns him away, saying he’s late. Normally, this would be incredibly frustrating. But ultimately, it turns out to be the reason he’s still here. “I argued with him and stuff, and that was it, and he saved my life, man,” Assis says.

The other of the two men tells a similar story, claiming that he swore he would fly with LATAM. Jose Felipe argues with the agent to let him and the 10 other passengers onto the plane so they can reach their destination. However, the flight agent stands firm and unknowingly saves their lives.
