Pendarvis to lead auto dealer group | Aiken area news

Richard Pendarvis of Pendarvis Chevrolet in Edgefield was elected president of the South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association for the 2024-2025 term. He was sworn into office on June 10 with the unanimous support of SCADA dealers.

Pendarvis Chevrolet was founded in 1953 by JM Pendarvis Sr. and three family members. Within three years, JM had bought out all the shareholders. In 1965, JM Pendarvis Sr. died and JM “Butch” Pendarvis Jr. became a dealer at age 26. Richard started working at age 10, cleaning the shop and washing cars. He spent his summers in various departments, from service to parts to sales. Richard officially began his career in 1981 by attending the GMAC School of Finance in Dallas, Texas and the Chevrolet School of Merchandising and Management for Dealer Candidates in 1984. He became a senior manager at Chevrolet in 1985, followed by becoming a dealer in 1999. Richard just celebrated his 25th anniversary as a dealer.

Richard and his wife, Lee Ann, have been married for 33 years and have two children: a son, Bailey P. Pendarvis, and a daughter, Lilli Anne Pendarvis. Richard served on the Wardlaw Academy School Board for eight years, was its chairman for four years, and was a member of the Aiken/Edgefield Economic Development Council for 18 years. He founded and led Ducks Unlimited in Edgefield County and later became a member of the Ducks Unlimited State Committee and the Augusta Area Bulldog Club Board of Directors. He served as chairman of Edgefield Dixie Youth Baseball and the Edgefield County Recreation Department, a member of the Federal Bureau of Prisons Board of Directors, president of the CSRA Chevrolet Dealers, and a member of the Chevrolet Southeastern Regional Advertising Board.

He is a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ridge in Edgefield County and is also a life member of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Students complete technical school

Robert Fazekas of Aiken and Graecin Wilber of Sumter graduated from Central Carolina Technical College.

Fifi Rogers receives master’s degree

Fifi Rogers of North Augusta received a Master of Science in Health Data Analytics from Clarkson University on May 11, 2024.
