Phantom Creek Estates announces the opening of a new facility in Richmond and the ultra-premium wine Baoshan

Richmond, British Columbia, August 19, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — In its fifth year of operation Phantom Creek Estate has become known as both a leader in British Columbia’s wine industry and the most spectacular winery in the southern Okanagan. Now it’s bringing that style and glamour to the Lower Mainland with the opening of its new 370 square metre office and multi-purpose space in Richmond, BC at 6928 Pearson Way. And even better, the expansion coincides with the release of its first ultra-premium halo wine: the Bordeaux blend, Baoshan.

“Creating a premium Bordeaux blend from BC’s finest grapes and creating a space to connect with our Lower Mainland wine club members were key elements of my vision for Phantom Creek Estates,” said the owner Judge Bai. “It’s exciting to see everything come to fruition.” The first edition of Phantom Creek’s Halo wine will be 2020 Baoshana full-bodied blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

Baoshan means “treasure mountain” in Chinese and is a symbol of prosperity. It is in line with the mission to create something that can be cherished and shared, and that can be passed down from generation to generation – a principle that has been important to Bai since he conceived his plan for Phantom Creek Estates. Fittingly, this limited edition wine is made from exceptional fruit from the best parcels of the Kobau and Becker vineyards. “This wine is the epitome of the vineyards and terroir of Phantom Creek Estates,” said Phantom Creek’s General Manager and Director of Winemaking. Mark Beringer.

Consulting winemaker Olivier Humbrecht, MW agrees. “Baoshan was created with the philosophy of delivering a product that can elevate Canadian winemaking to unprecedented heights. Made from only our finest fruit, it embodies the perfect synergy of all components.” Opening with vibrant aromas of wild strawberries, red cherries and cassis, the wine offers beautifully rounded flavors balanced by crisp acidity and well-integrated tannins. The exceptional blend can be enjoyed now or stored in a collector’s cellar for another 20 years. Only two barrels of this first release were made and bottled in magnum bottles, making it an extremely exclusive release.

Like the winery, the new space was designed with a focus on art and architecture. Designer J.DESIGN emphasized openness and fluidity, with arched doorways and clean lines to create an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and contemporary. The furnishings were carefully selected, including the 2022 Red Dot Design Award award-winning BUFA Arc Sofa to combine functionality and style.

Beringer said the new space will give Phantom Creek Estates greater market penetration. “It will help us introduce our wines to an even larger audience,” he said. “We plan to host winemaker dinners and special events, host partners and VIPs, and offer our Cru Club members a personalized and exclusive experience in new ways. There are many exciting developments to come with our expanded presence in the Lower Mainland.”

The Baoshan will be available this fall. For more information on the new wine, see the technical sheet here. For the latest news on Phantom Creek Estates and its wine selection, visit phantomcreekestates.com or follow @phantomcreek on Instagram or /PCEWine on Facebook.
