Pokémon flight safety video conquers Japan

Commercial flights always begin with safety instructions, such as how to fasten your seatbelt and what to do in case of an emergency. Now Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (aka ANA) has teamed up with The Pokémon Company to create a fun Pokemon-Safety video on the topic.

This will take place in parallel with the two companies’ existing business operations. Starting today, August 15, ANA will offer flights with the Pikachu Jet NH and the Eevee Jet NH.

The safety video is in both Japanese and English, with a person offering sign language in the lower right corner. The video shows various Pokemon are on a plane and show what to do and what not to do. For example, Machamp shows how to put on and take off a shoulder strap, Jigglypuff disapproves of smoking in the airplane cabin, and Pikachu and Pichu show where to find a life jacket in case of an emergency. There is also a small anime section about evacuations.

ANA emphasized that this video is suitable for people of all ages. In other words, children who normally miss important information will be more likely to pay attention when they see Pikachu and his friends!

As you can imagine, anyone who flies on these planes also has the opportunity to receive exclusive extras related to the franchise. That alone would make some people choose these flights over others.

As a bonus, there is also this ANA disembarkation video with Pokemon.

Fly Pokemon

While this is the first time Pokémon have been involved in flight safety, it’s not the first time they’ve been involved with airplanes. In 2021, for example, Skymark Airlines began offering its Pikachu Jet, which is a part of the Flying Pikachu tourism project. And last year, Solaseed Air was all about its Exeggutor Jet, which was basically an update of a previous Exeggutor plane. Either way, these pocket monsters are taking to the skies.
