Every child’s nightmare came true for the parents of the nine-year-old at around 7:00 this morning when their son did not show up at school. He was quickly reported missing.

Following an urgent search by the NYPD, FOX 5 New York dispatched its news helicopter to monitor the area. The search was for a 4′ 5″ tall boy in a school uniform.

“We do a lot of these stories that involve missing children, these horrific stories of people in despair and, you know, whatever else goes along with it. I can’t remember ever working on a story where we were looking for someone who was missing and ended up finding them and helping the police,” Rice told FOX 5.

Soon, NYPD officers arrived on the scene and gave the helicopter a big signal as they took the child to safety.

“He was as relaxed as he could be so we could find him and get his parents back with him. Yeah. It’s actually a pretty cool feeling,” helicopter reporter Dan Rice told FOX 5.
