Prince Harry wants to start his own online university, while the Duke of Sussex applies for a trademark

Prince Harry is reportedly close to founding his own online university after the Duke of Sussex filed a trademark for it.

The former working royal famously struggled with academic performance at Eton College, leaving A-levels with a D in geography and a B in art.

The Duke of Sussex skipped university and went straight to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as an officer cadet.

It was a decision, says Harry, that he has never regretted.

Despite his academic deficiencies, the Duke is part of a team building his own online “life coaching” university, The Mail reported.

Harry is the third boss of the US coaching platform BetterUp and was appointed the company’s “Chief Impact Officer” in March 2021 to focus on “preventive mental fitness”.

The Silicon Valley-based mental health company offers consulting packages to companies around the world and offers the opportunity to schedule appointments with the company’s experts.

The company now plans to establish an academic institution called BetterUp University, which will offer online degrees in life coaching.

In recently filed documents, the San Francisco-based company has applied to register its idea for BetterUp University with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The application states that the university will “offer online educational forums in the areas of life coaching, career coaching, personal development coaching and professional development coaching.”

Although the Duke said he wanted to “help impact people’s lives” through his role at the coaching firm, he was criticized for failing to appear on one of their free online livestreams at a summit in San Francisco in April.

Instead, he attended a session entitled ‘Beyond burnout: How to turn stress into strength at the executive level’, for which tickets were sold for £1,200.

It is a topic that the Duke himself says he can relate to.

In a BetterUp discussion two years ago, Harry admitted that he had experienced “burnout” and felt like he was “at the end of everything I had.”

Meanwhile, the 39-year-old Duke has spoken openly on television and in his 2023 memoir, Spare, about his “deteriorating” mental health and lamented the lack of “support” he received from the royal family.

He also said that he had been in therapy for four years “to heal the past.”
