Sunday, October 6th

By: Meteorologist Matt Bednar

We have a cooler afternoon compared to our very warm record Saturday. A cold front broke through this morning. It brought cooler and drier air to the region and shifted winds to the northwest. There is an increased risk of fire across the region due to very low humidity, unusually dry conditions and strong winds. This means we need to be careful when dealing with fires, throwing away cigarettes and being around dry vegetation. Overnight we will calm and cool down, with winds from the north around 5mph and temperatures around 40°C.

An upper level ridge is expected to move into the area and bring us high pressure weather over the next few days. Very little cloud cover, dry air and a calm southerly breeze. On Monday, afternoon and night temperatures will be just below seasonal temperatures. We will then start a warm-up trend during the work week. Temperatures will reach the mid 70s on Tuesday and reach the upper 70s on Wednesday. We end the work week with temperatures in the high 80s, but feeling dry and mostly sunny. The chance of rain remains low due to the dry air and the high pressure ridge. Our next chance of rain could be near the end of our 10 day forecast, but it is still very uncertain as to when the next rain will come.
