Police officers in Reading, Berks County, have arrested a 32-year-old man nearly a year after he allegedly fired the shot that killed a 58-year-old woman in her sleep.
According to police, 32-year-old Jeremiah Santiago was arrested around 3 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Penn Street in Reading during an investigation into the death of 58-year-old Tina Grier.
Grier, officials said, was shot around 11:30 p.m. on August 3, 2024, while she was sleeping in the front bedroom of her apartment on South 10th Street in Reading.
Police officials said Grier was shot in the face and died on October 31, 2023 from injuries she sustained in the incident.

An investigation into the incident revealed that Grier was hit by a bullet fired from outside her home and that Santiago was the man who fired the gun that evening, police said.
He is accused of murder, grievous bodily harm and related crimes, police officials said.
Police officials said he is currently in custody at the Berks County Jail.
