Rebel Liveflex Shore Shiner Review

Finesse fishing has been one of my favorite methods since I was a kid. It started with casting small ned rigs and grubs in streams and progressed to electronics and light line in big waters. No matter where or how I fish, I love a good fight with light finesse gear. Over the past few years of finesse fishing, I have had the opportunity to test hundreds, if not thousands, of different lures. During these tests, I have found a variety of different lures that I really enjoy using. One of the newest lures I have had the opportunity to play around with is the Rebel Liveflex Shore Shiner. This bait is extremely affordable and comes with everything you need to fish in a variety of situations.

BUILDING SHORE SHINER

The Rebel LiveFlex Shore Shiner Swimbait is a sophisticated lure that attracts even the most hard-working fish with its universal baitfish profile and subtle swimming action. Its compact paddle tail provides a natural movement while the scent-infused, flexible plastic closely mimics prey. The LiveFlex’s unique flexibility and swimming characteristics enhance its lifelike presentation and give anglers an extremely natural look.

The package includes two pre-rigged Rebel Keg Head Jigs and an additional jig, making the Rebel LiveFlex lures versatile for various techniques such as bouncing up and down through the current, bottom dragging, swimming, drop shots and Texas rigs. Available in colors very similar to common bait and with a highly durable plastic construction, the Rebel LiveFlex Shore Shiner Swimbait offers excellent longevity and performance at a price that everyone can afford.

Shore Shiner Applications

I have used the Rebel Liveflex Shore Shiner for a variety of different applications. I have caught both bass and bluegill with this lure and quickly found two scenarios where this lure really excels. The first is targeting bass in small streams and rivers. I first used this lure in a river near my home here in Knoxville, Tennessee. I cast this lure around current seams, boulders and laydowns and practiced a slow, steady retrieve. I have caught numerous smallmouth bass without ever having to change my soft plastic swimbait. I have been really impressed with the durability and performance of the lure in heavy current and rocky undergrowth.

Another scenario where this lure really shines is when targeting fish in open water. I’ve used this lure for both bass and bluegill, but it works really well when targeting bluegill in open water. I usually fish this lure by casting it past the bluegill and other bluegill species and then slowly retrieving it, holding it over their heads. I usually slow the lure down until I see one bite and then gradually increase my retrieve speed until one bites. I’ve caught some huge bluegill with this lure and I really like using it in conjunction with forward facing sonar.

SHONE SHINER SETUP

I have been casting this lure for about a month now. In that time, I have found the perfect equipment to fish effectively with this finesse lure. When starting out, I usually cast this lure with 6-pound fluorocarbon. This seems to get the best action and response out of the lure. In a rod, I prefer a shorter length with a medium-light action. This shorter rod allows for precise casts, while the parabolic action allows you to play fish with a lighter line. One of my favorite rods is the 6-foot 10-inch Fenwick Elite Spinning Rod with a medium-light action.

I prefer reels with lightweight components and a smaller spool. This smaller spool is great for light line, while the lightweight components reduce fatigue and increase casting accuracy. One of my favorite reels for the Rebel Liveflex Shore Shiner is the Shimano Sedona FJ 2500 Spinning Reel. This is my favorite gear for this type of lure, and I’ve had tons of success with it in all kinds of situations this summer. If you’re looking for an inexpensive lure that works for a variety of different species, I recommend checking out the Liveflex Shore Shiner from Rebel.
