Secondhand shop

Springfield – The St. Gregory Armenian Church thrift store, 135 Goodwin St., in the Indian Orchard neighborhood, is open Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, visit saintgregoryarmenianchurch.org.

Church events

Sunderland – First Congregational Church of Sunderland, 91 S. Main St., Serendipity Shop is open Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and offers items at bargain prices.

Triduum to Our Lady of Czestochowa

Chicopee – St. Stanislaus Basilica, 566 Front St., will host the Triduum in honor of Our Lady of Czestochowa from Saturday, August 24, through Monday, August 26. On Saturday, August 24, following the 4 p.m. Mass and Anointing of the Sick, there will be Eucharistic Adoration, prayer service and blessing in English; and on Sunday, August 25, prayers and adoration in Polish at 3 p.m. The Triduum will conclude on Monday, August 26, with a bilingual prayer service and outdoor procession at 7 p.m.

Drive-Thru Prayer Event

Hampden – LifeStream Church announces a summer schedule for drive-thru prayer events on select Saturdays in August. When you pull into the LifeStream Church parking lot during a drive-thru prayer event, a prayer team will meet you at your car and pray with you. You can stay in your car and experience the benefit of praying together. The event will be held on Saturday, August 24th from 2-4 p.m. Admission is free. The church is located at 216 Allen St.

Backback event

Springfield – South Congregational Church will be giving away 5 backpacks on Saturday, August 24th from 1 to 3 p.m. in the rear parking lot at 4 Maple Street. The backpacks will be filled with school supplies just in time for the start of school. There will be food, crafts, music and more. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Summer Festival

Granby – Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 256 State St., will host its “Summerfest” on Sunday, Aug. 25, from noon to 4 p.m. The chicken dinner is $15 and includes a half-grilled chicken, baked potatoes and corn on the cob, plus dessert and a bottle of water. Hamburgers and hot dogs will also be available. Raffle prizes of $500, $250 and $100, raffle baskets, bake sales, children’s games, prizes, raffle tickets and music from a DJ.

Worship time

Springfield – Foster Memorial Church, UCC, will resume worship services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. beginning Sunday, September 1. Child care and Sunday school will be available. Springfield – On Saturday, Sept. 7, from 2 to 6 p.m., Immaculate Conception Church, 25 Parker St., in the Indian Orchard neighborhood, will host a Polish plate feast (4 pierogi, 1 golabek, kielbasa, kapusta and rye bread). Price is $20 per plate, eat in or take out. Frozen Polish foods (pierogi, golabki, kapusta) for sale. Pierogi available (cabbage, potatoes, cheese, sweet cheese, blueberries). The basket raffle, sponsored by the youth group, Children of Mary and Polish School, is $2 per ticket or $5 per 3 tickets. Lottery tree valued at $120, sponsored by the Rosary Sodality, for $5 per ticket.

On Sunday, September 8th, at 10am, a solemn mass will be celebrated by JE Ks. Bp Robert Chrzaszcz – Auxiliary Bishop of Krakow, Poland and Bishop William Byrne – Bishop of Springfield – to commemorate the laying of the cornerstone of the Church of the Immaculate Conception on September 5th, 1904. The first mass was celebrated on October 2nd, 1904 in the basement of the church.

Church trips

Springfield – St. Catherine of Siena presents the following upcoming excursion. Take a trip to Blithewold Mansion in Bristol, RI in early December. Church events

Springfield – South Congregational Church, an open and affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ in downtown Springfield, invites all to their regular worship services, Sundays at 10 a.m. in person at 45 Maple Street in Springfield or via Zoom. The Zoom link and more information about us can be found on our website at www.sococh.org. The church moves its Sunday services from the nave to the air-conditioned fellowship hall during the summer months through September. You will experience their warm welcome, their great music program, and their fun coffee hour immediately after the service. Child care is also available.

The Bible study group on Zoom now meets on Mondays at 7pm (use the Zoom service link) – whether you’re new to Bible study or have been around for ages, you’re welcome. Other programs include regular knitting and quilting circles and an upcoming Lenten book group. In addition to services and events, South is particularly involved in the downtown community, and many public programs are offered in its space. Agawam – Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main St., invites the congregation to Sunday worship at 10 a.m. Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. There is a friendship gathering in the fellowship hall after all Sunday services. The church is handicap accessible and has a large parking lot. The church live stream is broadcast weekly on YouTube. Hobbyists wanted

Ludlow – Christ the King Parish is seeking artisans for its annual St. Nicholas Artisan Fair, which will be held Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall. A non-refundable $40 for an 8-foot table will be provided by the parish. Checks should be made payable to the Rosary Sodality. Agawam – St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main St., offers weekly adoration ceremonies on Wednesdays from noon to 5:30 p.m. Mass is at 6 p.m. Lawn signs announcing the Year of the Eucharist are available for Agawam residents. Contact the parish office to obtain one: 413-786-8105, ext. 101.

Dinner and music

Longmeadow – On Saturday, September 14th at 3pm, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 335 Longmeadow St, Longmeadow, MA, will host an evening of dinner and music from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. Enjoy a Sicilian-style dinner by Chef Carla Grifo and live entertainment by local singer Ethel Lee and keyboardist Richie Mitnik playing jazz, standards, Motown, blues and more.

Tickets are $60 per person and limited to 80. Registration deadline is September 8. No tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets can be purchased with cash, check (memo “Dinner 09/14” & mailed to the church), or Zeffy (see QR code). Free weekly lunch for veterans

Holyoke – Community Roots Neighborhood Services provides a free hot lunch for veterans and their adult family members (parents or spouses). Lunch is held every Thursday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton St. Questions? Email Gina Nelson at [email protected].

Wilbraham – Wilbraham United Church, located at 500 Main St., welcomes the congregation for Sunday worship at 10 a.m. Communion is served with bread and grape juice on the first Sunday of each month. After all Sunday services, there is a friendship gathering in the Fellowship Hall. Coffee and other refreshments are served and all are welcome. Wilbraham United is a merged congregation of the Congregational and Methodist societies. They celebrate as a congregation that recognizes the traditions and values ​​of the United Church of Christ and the United Methodist denominations.
