In New Orleans, USA, data collection technology company Rep Data has launched what it describes as “the industry’s first DIY offering of voter-matched sampling for pollsters and opinion research institutes.” The service is available through the company’s Research Desk platform.

Last fall, it acquired the data quality and fraud protection software platform Research Defender, formerly known as SampleChain. Its offerings include tools to match respondents to relevant surveys, exclude professional survey respondents and otherwise prevent sample fraud and duplication.

The new service allows users to access pre-matched voters verified by L2. L2 provides trusted, non-partisan data matching for current and accurate voter information. The company says researchers can now create more accurate and specific target segments based on voting behavior and demographic details, with greater confidence that the sample is representative and authentic. They can also analyze past voting behavior against current opinions and preferences, and add additional demographic data such as voter history, purchasing habits, hobbies and interests, and congressional district boundaries.

Possible uses include public opinion research, analyzing how voter segments might respond to policy changes or public initiatives, and helping nonprofits and advocacy groups understand their supporters.

“Purchasing voter matching samples has traditionally been a laborious process,” says founder and CEO Pat Stokes (pictured). “By integrating with our API-connected suppliers who have matched their respondents with L2 data, we can leverage the voter matching audience to target verified respondents in real time – making the process faster and more efficient and the data more reliable.”

CTO Vignesh Krishnan adds, “As the 2024 U.S. election season approaches, we are excited to offer researchers this industry-first. However, this integration will be useful well beyond this year’s election cycle and will provide a valuable resource for pollsters and opinion polling professionals.”
