Reuters journalist missing after Russian attack on hotel in eastern Ukraine

A member of a Reuters team covering the war in Ukraine is missing and two colleagues have been hospitalized after a Russian attack on a hotel in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk where the news agency’s group was staying, the agency said on Sunday.

A Reuters news agency employee is missing and two others were injured in an attack on a hotel in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, the agency said on Sunday. In the last 24 hours, 15 civilians were killed in Russian attacks across the country.

In another deadly day in the two-and-a-half-year-old war, six civilians were killed in Ukrainian attacks on Russian border areas, Russian officials said.

The attacks came as Kiev plans an invasion of Russia’s Kursk region, which has shaken Moscow but has not slowed the advance of Russian troops in eastern Ukraine.

Ukrainian officials said 15 civilians were killed in attacks on Saturday and Sunday in the war-torn regions of Donetsk, northeastern Sumy and southern Kherson.

A search and rescue operation was underway in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk after an attack late Saturday on the Sapphire Hotel, where six crew members covering the war were staying, according to Reuters.

AFP reported that authorities distributed plywood to locals so they could board up their windows.
