Review: Blue Devils at the Olympic Games in Paris – August 10

PARIS – The Blue Devils continued their competition at the 2024 Olympics on Saturday with golf, basketball and track and field. Here’s a recap of the Aug. 10 games in France.

Tatum and the USA defeat France and win the gold medal
Jayson Tatum
secured his second Olympic gold medal as the USA held off a comeback from host France to win 98-87 in Saturday’s final. Tatum contributed two points, three rebounds and a steal in 11 minutes of play as a substitute.

Tatum was a standout player at Duke during the 2016-17 season and also won gold with the USA at the Tokyo Olympics.

Boutier Cards among the top 20 for France
Former Duke women’s golf standout Celine Boutier She finished the French Olympics, held at Le Golf National in Paris, with a top-20 finish. Boutier, a native of France, played the last four days in front of her home crowd and led the field for one day.


Boutier, a 2016 Blue Devils graduate, shot rounds of 65, 76, 71 and 74 for a score of 286 (2 under par) and tied for 18th place.


The 2020 Duke graduate will represent Slovenia at the Olympic Games for the first time Ana Belac The total scores were 77, 72, 76 and 76, which corresponds to a result of 301 and means 49th place.


She is competing for Ireland at her third Olympic Games and graduated from the Blue Devils in 2018 Leona Maguire finished strong with a 1 under par 71 and tied for 59th. She made four birdies in her final round.


The medal winners were Lydia Ko (278) from New Zealand, Esther Henseleit (280) from Germany and Xiyu Lin (281) from China.



Canada finished sixth in the women’s 4x400m relay
The Canadian team concluded the athletics competition on Saturday with the final of the women’s 4×400-meter relay, securing their door to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris with a sixth-place finish. Canada delivered its best race of the season on the biggest stage as the women’s quartet posted a season-best time of 3:22.01.

Former Duke All-American and reserve relay player Maddy Price did not participate.
