This fall, Robert Glasper returns to New York City’s Blue Note Jazz Club for Robtober 2024, the latest edition of his annual residency at the vaunted music institution. The announcement of Glasper’s residency, which is set to begin Wednesday, October 2 and run through November 3, comes alongside his latest full-length release. Code derivation, which lands on streaming platforms today, August 28. During his five weeks in the Big Apple, Glasper is scheduled to perform every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, delivering two impressive sets each night.
Glasper’s 25-show sprint also precedes the five-time Grammy winner’s long-awaited performances at The Black Radio Experience, which the artist’s Black Radio Productions will present in conjunction with Blue Note Entertainment Group from August 30 to September 1. Glasper will serve as artist in residence at the Napa, California, event and will share the stage with Musiq Soulchild and Marsha Ambrosius in a program headlined by his Black Radio recording series and acclaimed Blue Note residencies. Other headliners in 2024 include John Legend, Jill Scott and André 3000, with additional performances by Glasper, Andra Day, Common & Pete Rock, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Madlib, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Terrace Martin and more.
Before beginning his extensive residency at Blue Note, Glasper will round out his touring schedule, with performances scheduled at the Bruton Theater at the Black Academy of Arts and Letters in Dallas on September 14, the Holland Performing Arts Center in Omaha, Nebraska on September 27, and the 2024 Monterey Jazz Festival in Monterey, California, on September 29. After the tour concludes in November, the musician will perform at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, Arizona, on November 9 before heading overseas for a series of shows, including Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and England. Glasper’s final 2024 schedule is in December with five nights at City Winery Chicago in Chicago, booked for December 2-5.
