Russian intelligence: USA plans color revolution in Georgia

According to the SVR, the White House is “extremely dissatisfied with the situation in Georgia” ahead of the parliamentary elections on October 26. “The Americans are preparing a color revolution in Georgia,” the SVR stressed. “On the ‘Tbilisi Maidan’ they want to make public ‘evidence of election fraud’, announce the non-recognition of the election results and demand a change of power. The law enforcement agencies are being provoked to suppress the protests with violence,” the secret service said, TASS reported.

At the same time, the Americans are developing options for a “ruthless” political and economic response to the “excessive” use of force by the authorities against “peaceful citizens”.

The SVR press service stressed that “in the run-up to the color revolution, Georgian pro-Western non-governmental organizations are recruiting a large number of people to closely monitor the electoral process.” “Their task is to identify and record ‘threatening facts’ of the use of administrative resources by the authorities, even if they do not exist. Washington is providing additional funding to local opposition youth associations, which are expected to become the ‘locomotive’ of post-election protests,” the SVR added.

The intelligence agency also noted that “despite American efforts, Georgian opposition forces controlled by Washington remain fragmented and the coalitions they form remain very fragile.” “Against this background, the ruling Georgian Dream party may gain public support. As a result, the US fears that politicians will have their hands tied and will be able to continue their sovereign course by refusing to meet Western demands that are in direct contradiction to Georgia’s national interests,” the press office said.

According to the intelligence agency, “the White House considers such a scenario unacceptable.”

“The Americans intend to massively increase pressure on the Georgian authorities in the remaining weeks before the elections in order to weaken the electoral position of the Georgian Dream as much as possible. In doing so, they plan to use a “tried and tested method”: personal sanctions against the top leaders of the party, their family members and the party’s sponsors,” the SVR said.
