Sarasota’s new luxury beach resort and five of its waterfront restaurants will open Friday.

One of the largest hotel openings in Sarasota County history is taking place this week.

The prestigious hotel chain St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International, has announced that it will open the St. Regis Longboat Key Resort on Friday. It will be the largest property on Longboat Key in over 50 years and is touted as “one of the most luxurious beach resorts in the country.”

The St. Regis Longboat Key Resort’s grand opening ceremony on Friday will be an exclusive preview of the property as it is “introduced” to the public, the St. Regis said in an email. Select rooms, five waterfront restaurants and bars, and the spa with a variety of specialty treatments and ocean views will be available starting Friday, ahead of the resort’s official opening, which is scheduled for late September.

The St. Regis Longboat Key Resort in Sarasota opens to the public this week

Located on Longboat Key’s prime property, formerly home to the famous Colony Beach and Tennis Resort and under construction since late 2021, the St. Regis will offer guests a beachfront getaway on 18 acres and 800 feet of private beach starting Friday.

The 168-room resort features multiple pools and cabanas, a 22,000-square-foot oceanfront St. Regis Spa, a winding waterway and a saltwater lagoon with wildlife including stingrays, turtles and tropical fish. The average room rate is $1,200.

The four main dining options at the St. Regis Resort are the CW Prime steakhouse, the Northern Italian restaurant Riva, the Latin American eatery Aura and the rooftop lounge Oshen, which serves Asian fusion cuisine. There is also the St. Regis Bar, the Monkey Bar and the hotel’s cafe, Caroline’s.

Starting Friday, all restaurants and bars will be open to the public, with the exception of CW Prime and Oshen, which will be unveiled at the grand opening in September. CW Prime will be open to the public; however, Oshen is exclusive to hotel guests and members.

Spanning 20,000 square feet on a Gulf-front property, the St. Regis Spa welcomes guests with a stop at the Celebration Bar, which offers drinks made with champagne and locally sourced ingredients.

The spa offers a wide range of unique treatments using natural ingredients and the latest skin care technology. The extensive hydrothermal area includes a Finnish sauna, eucalyptus steam bath, snow shower, vital water, cold bath and experience showers.

The Relaxation Lounge opens onto a terrace with an infinity vitality pool overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Guests can also take advantage of the state-of-the-art fitness center with Technogym equipment and salon facilities.
