Scene from Chapter 13 of Boruto Two Blue Vortex is referred to as “Plot Armor”

A particular scene involving Boruto and Jura in Two Blue Vortex Chapter 13 is criticized by fans for using “plot armor.”

Boruto Two Blue Vortex features the Shinju invading Konoha to search for Naruto, the Seventh Hokage, and the Jinchuriki of Kurama, but since he is trapped in a pocket dimension, they find other enemies instead.

After saving Himawari from Jura and Sarada from Hidari, Boruto defeats Sasuke’s doppelganger with his strongest technique. But they cannot enjoy the victory for long, as Jura shoots Boruto in the chest and promises to kill him in Chapter 12.

However, in Chapter 13 of Boruto Two Blue Vortex, we see Mamushi interrupting the scene. The Shinju tells Jura that Matsuri is back in her hideout. So Jura decides to retreat to revive Hidari with the Soul Thorn, sparing Boruto’s life.

While this saves the protagonist, fans find this scene to be the blatant use of “plot armor.” Jura had plenty of time to fatally shoot him in the time it took Boruto to speak, but he chose to speak instead and ultimately left without killing his enemy.

Jura, Boruto and Sumire

This makes little sense, but it’s understandable. Shonen protagonists are usually given a lot of plot armor. It’s necessary to show the urgency of a situation while also keeping the story’s heroes alive for the sake of it. Still, fans think the lack of subtlety in Boruto Two Blue Vortex Chapter 13 was too much to ignore.

“Jura leaving Boruto alive is just a plot device in my opinion,” one user posted on Reddit. Another commented, “The man is barely alive and Jura isn’t even out of breath. ‘We need to back off.'”

A third wrote: “The guy is floating around casually and chatting with Bugs Shinju, who was obviously in no hurry either. He could have fired another shot or used another jutsu in that time.”

“Is there a reason he didn’t continue shooting? Is he stupid?” shouted a fourth.

Jura leaving Boruto alive is controversial, but it does move the story forward. But our hero is far from safe, as Konohamaru arrests him after the Shinju retreat in Boruto Two Blue Vortex Chapter 13. What happens to him next remains to be seen.
