Season 2 of “The Rings of Power” features an important villain from the “Lord of the Rings” films

The latest reports suggest that the highly anticipated second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will resurrect a dangerous enemy from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Along with the already increasing anticipation for the second round of events in Galadriel and Elrond’s battle against Sauron, The return of this fan-favorite villain sets the bar high for the new episodes.




Maxim Baldry recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly, where he revealed Shelob’s Return in the second season. She was the giant spider that almost defeated Frodo in The Return of the King. In a harrowing survival sequence in the dangerous landscapes of Mordor, she will now prove to be a deadly threat to Isildur.

He revealed some details about his character’s emotional journey in the new season, telling how Isildur finds himself in a life-threatening situation. “I am woken up in a cave and have to fight my way through Shelob to safety, which is an obscene start to a season,” Baldry explained. “It’s a story of survival and a story about ‘be careful what you wish for.’ He grows from a boy into a man and has to learn who he can trust and who he can’t.”


Isildur’s fight for survival in Mordor

This subplot is guaranteed to add more depth to Isildur’s character and gives the series a chance to explore the tragic fate of the eventual hero. It would be Isildur who dealt the final blow to Sauron just to claim the One Ring for himself. a fate that ultimately brings him down.


During season 1 of The Rings of Power While it is praised for its world-building and Galadriel’s character development, some critics argue that Isildur’s story arc was relatively thin. It seems that Season 2 will address this with the addition of a dangerous battle against Shelob and more heroic moments for Isildur; consequently, his eventual corruption by the Ring will be even more tragic.
