WILMINGTON – Wilmington Airport (ILG) is offering new flights to Georgia and resuming some flights, as well as a new way to transport travelers to Philadelphia in style.

Last week, the Delaware River and Bay Authority announced a partnership with Landline and American Airlines to bridge the gap between ILG and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) with a luxury motorcade service. Starting in October, Delaware residents will be able to book American Airlines flights to all 50 states.

Travelers can drive to ILG and clear security in Wilmington before boarding a landline bus that goes directly to PHL. After a one-hour ride, travelers arrive at a secure gate at the PHL terminal and board a connecting flight.

American Airlines now offers direct flight tickets to over 100 destinations worldwide.

Landline, the shuttle company that partners with American Airlines, received its first TSA approval for airport-to-airport ground operations in June 2022. Following this approval, the company initially focused on operations at three airports in the Philadelphia region, including Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) and Atlantic City International Airport.

These two markets have been incredibly popular over the past year, prompting Landline and American Airlines to expand their services to other markets, including Wilmington Delaware,” said Tamura. “Due to high demand from passengers seeking connecting flights with American Airlines/Landline, we increased frequency to ABE and ACY earlier this year. We expect continued growth in the future and look forward to future successes in Delaware.”

Avelo Airliner has breathed new life into ILG over the past two years, operating an average of 2,100 flights in its first year. The cheap tickets, some of which cost as little as $41 for one-way flights, also help people who live nearby book a seat. Avelo has announced plans to expand the service with a second aircraft.

Last week, Avelo announced that it will add Atlanta, Georgia to its program at ILG. Additionally, three cities in Florida will return Daytona Beach, Palm Beach and Sarasota-Bradenton.
