Bebe Rexha tearfully claimed she was “threatened” by an airport security guard because she spoke Albanian.
“I was threatened because I thought the security guard was Albanian. I spoke to him in Albanian and asked where I could get my ticket and now he is banning me from flying,” the 34-year-old wrote under an Instagram video in which she is crying.
After posting another clip of herself crying to her Instagram stories on Saturday, Rexha continued: “I believe this is a hate crime because I am Albanian. He wouldn’t let me take his name. He continued to psychologically abuse me to make me feel like he was more powerful than he was.”
“None of the women at @Lufthansa intervened or said anything. He wouldn’t give me his name, but I just found out he works for ATSG, a document control service provider contracted by Lufthansa.”
She also reposted another story from a fan account supporting her.
“Please make sure @BebeRexha gets home safely. @Munichairport please investigate the male police officer who threatened a woman @beberexha for speaking Albanian. Unplug your cameras,” posted Instagram user Bukie Rexha.
The emotional revelation comes just weeks after Rexha took to social media to vent her frustration with the music industry, with the singer saying she had been “silenced” and “undermined” for years.
“I’m frustrated. I’ve been UNDERMINED,” the singer wrote on X.
She continued, “I was so quiet for so long. I didn’t notice the signs, even though people were constantly bringing them up and they were SO OBVIOUS.”
Rexha went on to tell her followers that “things have to change” or she will soon be “telling ALL (her) truths,” which will bring down “a HUGE portion” of the industry.
“The good, the bad and the ugly,” she said.
“I’m sitting in my hotel room in London crying my eyes out,” she added in another post. “I’ve felt hopeless for the longest time. I’ve been walking around this city a lot and meeting fans and they really sparked something in me.”
