Some Seeley Lake residents are still without power after Friday’s storm

SEELEY LAKE – A storm on Friday devastated the town of Seeley Lake, uprooting trees throughout town and some falling on power lines.

Some residents in and around Seeley Lake were still without power Monday as crews continued to work to turn the lights back on. Efforts to restore power were difficult because crews had to clear downed trees first.

A Seeley Lake resident told MTN that fortunately the town has many experienced arborists to assist with the reconstruction effort and that they have been on the job since shortly after the storm.
Storms like this are unusual for Seeley Lake. The same resident told MTN he had never seen a storm like this pass through the area before.

On August 23, 2024, a brief but severe storm hit the Seeley Lake area, downing trees and cutting power to hundreds of people.

After the storm, the community largely came together, with neighbors from across town helping each other clear away fallen trees and debris.

“We’re experiencing a really interesting weather pattern right now and I hope this crazy wind is over now. But a lot of people out here are shocked. We’ve never experienced anything like this before,” said Gage Seeley, owner of Seeley Station.

Missoula Electric Cooperative continues to work to restore power. The latest information on power outages can be found here.
