SSC CGL Tier 1 and Tier 2 Syllabus

SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2024

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern

The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam structure includes an exam duration of 60 minutes. It has a penalty system where 0.50 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Scheme

Significant changes have been made in the marking procedure and timing of the SSC CGL exam. The crucial aspects regarding the compilation of the shortlist, the length of the exam and the policy for penalties for wrong answers are as follows: The shortlist will be prepared entirely on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the Tier-2 exam. The first exam will be of 2 hours and 15 minutes duration and the second exam will be of 2 hours duration. As far as penalties in Tier-2 are concerned, for the first exam, particularly in Sections 1, 2 and the first module of Section 3, 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. The penalty for the second exam will be 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

  • Current Affairs: The focus is on the interaction between the environment and societal needs and the relevance of current events and personal experiences. It also covers the scientific dimensions of these issues, highlighting the situation in India and neighboring countries.
  • Story: This section covers the ancient Indus Valley Civilization, followed by the emergence and spread of Buddhism and Jainism, the Magadha Empire, including the prestigious Gupta dynasty, the Mughal Empire and the era of the Delhi Sultanate.
  • Geography: This section covers many topics, from the comprehensive study of the universe and our solar system to a detailed study of the physical properties of the Earth, including its mountain ranges, rivers, water bodies, land masses and the prevailing atmospheric conditions. It deals with wind cyclones, different climates and the efforts of the Geological Survey of India. A special focus is given to the environment of India and its diverse flora and soil types.
