The online store expands the bookstore’s reach and makes its extensive collection of inspirational books and gifts available to customers throughout the Diocese of Florida and across the country.
The new online store, accessible at www.jaxcathedralbooks.org, offers religious and non-religious books, Episcopalian supplies and many of the same gifts found in the St. John’s Cathedral Bookstore & Gift Shop. Customers can browse and purchase a variety of Bibles, inspirational and theological texts, children’s books, gifts for the home, jewelry, greeting cards and more – all from the comfort of their home or office.
St. John’s Cathedral Bookshop and Gift Shop began in 2012 in a small office in the Cathedral with a part-time manager and a small group of volunteers. In 2018, the bookshop moved across the street to a beautiful, historic building and became a full-fledged retail store. Profits from the bookshop support St. John’s Cathedral’s outreach services.
“The bookstore was founded because we had a vision of an alternative economy where the purchase of books, art and fine jewelry would generate profits that benefit the community, the artists locally and in the developing world who are struggling to survive,” said the Rev. Kate Moorehead Carroll, Dean of St. John’s Cathedral. “When you shop with us and buy everything you could have bought at Walmart or Target, you begin to use your purchasing power to change the world.”
“For over six years, the mission of St. John’s Cathedral Bookstore & Gift Shop has been to spread the Cathedral’s message of LOVE at the heart with books that inspire and gifts that give back,” said Kathryn Bissette, Manager of St. John’s Cathedral Bookstore & Gift Shop. “With the launch of our new online store, we are excited to expand our reach and bring our cause to a larger audience.”
The online store offers a secure, user-friendly checkout with options for standard and express shipping. Local customers can also pick up the goods in the store.
In addition, the new website includes information about upcoming bookstore events and educational programs, including our First Monday Book Club, ART@noon Salon, and author events. The site also features recommendations and book reviews from a variety of sources.
In the coming months, the bookstore plans to introduce additional offerings, such as a special book purchase program for book clubs and study groups. Churches receive a 10% discount on all online or in-store orders.
To celebrate the launch, the bookstore is offering a free “LOVE at the CORE” cell phone wallet or bumper sticker with any online purchase for a limited time.
