Description: Developers plan to build a 98-room hotel in southeast Salem near the new Dollar General warehouse.
A site plan submitted to the city called for a four-story Staybridge Hotel for the Mill Creek neighborhood.
Staybridge Suites is an extended stay hotel with residential-style studios and suites.
Representatives of IHG Hotels and Resorts, the owner of Staybridge, did not confirm plans for the hotel or provide an opening timeline.
Dollar General built a massive 103,000-square-foot dry goods distribution center and cold storage facility near the planned hotel.
Dollar General officials said they invested $168 million in the dual distribution center.
It is expected that this will bring 400 new jobs to the Salem region.
A gas station, a convenience store and a car wash were also built near the warehouse on Logistics Street SE. The store opened recently.
The southeast Salem location has experienced tremendous growth over the past decade with the addition of the Amazon distribution center, Winco grocery distribution, Lineage and other parts of the Scannell Logistics Center.
