Steamboat Resort expands leadership team with two vice presidents

Opening day of the 2024-25 ski season is set for November 23, and Steamboat Resort has added two new vice presidents to the resort’s leadership team.

According to the resort, Corey Peterson will assume the role of Vice President of Mountain Operations and Nelson Wingard will become Vice President of SnowSports School, which is a new role. Both will assume their responsibilities effective immediately and report to President and CEO Dave Hunter.

In announcing the new hires, the resort said Peterson, who started at the resort as a snowmaker in 2004, has been at the center of mountain operations for nearly 20 years, most recently serving as vice president of engineering, maintenance and facilities while overseeing mountain operations in an interim role through the 2023-24 ski season.

Other positions Peterson has held at Steamboat include assistant snowmaking manager, snowmaking manager, and operations manager, as well as being responsible for leading many aspects of the Full Steam Ahead project on the mountain.

In his new role, Peterson will be responsible for long-term planning and strategic oversight of all mountain operations, including snowmaking, grooming, lift operations and maintenance, patrols and more.

Wingard has been in the ski industry for nearly 40 years, with nearly 20 of those seasons dedicated to the SnowSports School in Steamboat. In his newly created role, Wingard will be responsible for overseeing the SnowSports School, including Mountain Camp and Steamboat’s bike park operations and bike school.
