T-Mobile customers should shop online after new changes

Getting anything through a wireless carrier can be a confusing process. Even though you’re saving money, sometimes it can seem like you’ve been lied to, even if you haven’t. Much of this has to do with how companies word their offers, which leads to misunderstandings and numerous angry calls to customer service representatives. T-Mobile has introduced some changes that will improve the experience for both its employees and its customers. The changes will go into effect on August 29 and will only apply to customers who shop online or through the T-Mobile app or T Life, according to The Mobile Report.

According to a leaked internal document T-Mobile will make three changes to improve the digital upgrade experience.

First, the promotional prices are displayed in the shopping cart to give you a more accurate overview of the billing estimates.

Second, you no longer have to purchase $49 worth of accessories to finance them through Equipment Installation Plans (EIP).

Finally, T-Mobile is also changing the way you receive promotional credits when you trade in an old device. Previously, when you traded in a device, you received a one-time trade-in credit. This means that if your device was worth, say, $400, the amount was applied to your bill as a one-time upfront discount. Any remaining promotional discount was then spread out over the financing term.

This made it look like you were not saving as much as you expected each month because the trade-in discount was already applied at the beginning. This is now changing, with T-Mobile Payment of the value of the trade-in device as Recurring Device Credits (RDC).

In short, you’ll still pay the same price for your upgrades after these changes. They’ll just simplify the online purchasing process, which everyone will appreciate.

If you want to purchase accessories for under $50 through an EIP or don’t want a one-time credit for your old device, be sure to shop on the company’s website or app, as the changes won’t apply to physical stores.
