Take it easy: Marvel introduces a mutant from Singapore in new X-Men comic, Lifestyle News

Forget Deadpool or Wolverine, there’s a new superhero in town.

Her superpower? She can do anything she sets her mind to.

Some Singaporeans claim to already possess this ability, but many may be interested to know that this mutant happens to have the same nationality as them.

Last Friday (August 9), Marvel Comics unveiled Singaporean Sofia Yong, aka Jitter, along with three other characters collectively known as the Outliers.

Jitter will make her first appearance in a new episode of the series “The Uncanny X-Men,” which first aired in 1981.

Gail Simone wrote the second installment of the latest series and mentioned that Jitter has difficulty concentrating or prioritizing things.

Her “hyperfocus” powers give her the ability to learn certain skills, but only for one minute.

If she continues like this much longer, the teenager from Singapore will collapse immediately.

Simone told pop culture website Popverse that Jitter stutters and is “very cool.”

She added: “She can use a range of skills for a minute, like being the best martial artist in the world or the best lockpicker of all time.”

“And she has a timer that she sets, and she can do the thing for a minute and then it’s over.”

On the day Jitter was revealed, a photo of her Marvel character card was posted on the Singapore subreddit.

It piqued the interest of local Reddit users and many already had an affinity for Jitter.

One netizen asked: “Is this really her mutant power or is this the result of years of training by her? kiasu Tiger mom in Singapore’s academic system?”

Another commenter had no problem with Jitter being Singaporean, saying there was no other nationality that could be described in this way.

“Sounds like a normal student from Singapore to me!” commented another Reddit user.

According to your description, Jitter never needs to slow down, not even to sleep.

One Reddit user found this quite debilitating, mentioning that even in a parallel universe, this Singaporean struggles to escape the rat race of everyday life.
