Taylor Swift reveals stage secrets from Eras Tour in new music video

Swift gives her fans a behind-the-scenes look, from her performance on stage to what’s in the “cleaning cart.”

LONDON – Lights, camera, Swiftie smiles.

Taylor Swift has premiered a brand new music video in London, taking a look behind the scenes of her big Eras Tour. As confetti fell and the lights came on at Wembley Stadium, the three-minute video was shown on the big screens. Fans who hadn’t left early stopped to watch. Many were left speechless as it showed the “cleaning van” Swift arrives on tour in and how she can dive onto the stage.

“I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” – or what fans abbreviate as ICDIWABH – is the second single and music video from Swift’s 11th-era album The Tortured Poets Department. Shortly before the surprise announcement, the singer and her dancers embraced in a big group hug before disappearing from view.

The new video, released at 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday, features plenty of behind-the-scenes footage. It starts with a time-lapse of fans entering the stadium and a large gathering of Swift’s team before they go on stage, fluttering their fingers before moving their hands up and down.

Cut to a camera shot under the stage showing Swift in a tangerine jumpsuit. Above her, the orange and pink parachute flaps are visible at the beginning of the show. A production worker presses a button and the video shows fans jumping up and down, screaming. Swift rides on a mechanical train that transports her from the diamond part of the stage to the back where she can transform into her second era, “Fearless.” Two guards signal her to enter.

While the stage production is worth watching, months of rehearsals take place. Swift pulls back the curtain to show her band and dancers rehearsing several numbers; her run-throughs of ICDIWABH are particularly notable. From casual athletic wear to the Vivienne Westwood-designed dress, fans see all the stages leading up to the stirring Eras Tour production. There’s a shot of dancer Kameron Saunders practicing his line “one… two… three… four.” And Swift gives the entire audience an invisible “22 hat.”

ICDIWABH is the second music release from “Tortured Poets” after “Fortnight” with Post Malone.

The notes on the music video

Swifties should have known a surprise was coming after Taylor Nation, Swift’s internal marketing team, tweeted, “Behind the scenes of Female Rage: The Musical, when, @taylorswift13?” Swift nicknamed her 11th album “Female Rage: The Musical” in Paris, France.

The account also said: “We held our breath the entire show and it’s not even over yet…”, 20 minutes before the end of the show.

The last European show had two surprise guests

Fans who attended Tuesday night’s show may have nothing to say tomorrow, as Swift threw in several surprises. The singer brought along Florence Welch to perform a brand new number to the tune of “Florida!!!” and invited her boyfriend Jack Antonoff to play a guitar mashup of “Death By a Thousand Cuts” and “Getaway Car.”

The singer will take a two-month break before returning to North America on October 18.
