The teenager accuses American Airlines of throwing him out of first class during the flight.
The rapper shared in his now-deleted Instagram Live that two flight attendants told him he had to give up his seat on the flight to Fort Worth, Texas. His wife asked what the reason for the downgrade was. The flight attendants explained that they went by what they saw in the system.
In a video clip, the New Orleans rapper can be heard saying, “Man, they’re trying to throw me off the plane!” Juvenile and his wife were eventually able to exit the plane.
He continued, “This has never happened to me in my life. Man, y’all are freaking out. I’m a celebrity. I’m telling you, there will be consequences. There will be consequences because I’m getting off the plane. I’m getting off the plane. I’m not going to let you disrespect me like that. I’m not going to let you single me out of all the people on the plane and disrespect me. So I’m getting off the plane.”
In another video, he shared that he was unhappy with the service and treatment he received during his flight. He also shared that he would still make it to Texas in time for his performance.
“We’re talking about first class. First class? I think I know a thing or two about first class,” he said. “Fuck American Airlines, all the money I spent on those bitches… they want to put me in economy, damn it? I’ve never flown economy. Fuck all of you, I feel like I’m being ripped off.”
Since his video went viral, an American Airlines spokesperson apologized to the rapper and explained the situation further. The spokesperson said the downgrade was due to the “downgraded equipment” of the flight itself.
“American Airlines is committed to providing a positive experience for every traveler and we apologize for Mr. Gray’s recent experience with us. An unplanned aircraft type change impacted his seat assignment and we regret that he was not informed prior to boarding. A member of our team has spoken personally with Mr. Gray to resolve the situation.”
