Tesla achieves highest score in JD Power 2024 US Tech Experience Index Study

Global automotive data and analytics company JD Power has released the results of its 2024 US Tech Experience Index (TXI) study. According to the study’s findings, consumers still give Tesla high marks for overall tech innovation.

As JD Power noted in a press release, the 2024 U.S. Tech Experience Index Study was based on responses from 81,926 owners of new 2024 model year vehicles surveyed after 90 days of ownership. The study was conducted from July 2023 to May 2024 and was based on vehicles registered from April 2023 to February 2024.

The study follows a 1,000-point scale, and based on its results, Tesla remained the top brand in the United States this year with a total of 786 out of 1,000 points. This represents an improvement over the company’s overall score from the 2023 US TXI study, which listed Tesla with 773 points. Tesla’s score is practically in a class of its own, as the next automaker after the company was Rivian, which scored 666 points.

While Tesla and Rivian performed well among participants in the 2024 US Tech Experience Index Study, JD Power noted in its press release that the two automakers, as well as Polestar, which received 578 points, did not actually receive any awards. According to JD Power, this was because Tesla, Rivian and Polestar were not eligible for the rankings because they did not meet the study’s award criteria.

As a result, Genesis was declared the highest-rated premium brand with 584 out of 1,000 points in the 2024 US TXI study. Hyundai with 518 points was declared the highest-rated mass-market brand by the analytics firm. Interestingly, Genesis’s score was higher in 2023 with 656 points, while Hyundai’s was 547 points.

Awards or not, the results of the 2024 US Tech Experience Index Study were clear. Tesla is still a leader when it comes to providing its customers with a good overall tech experience. The fact that Tesla’s score actually improved year-on-year is especially impressive considering the company has launched vehicles that forego traditional car controls, such as the Cybertruck and the new Model 3, which don’t have physical gear selectors and turn signals on the steering wheel.
