The Black Crowes cancel upcoming concert in Central NY

The Black Crowes have canceled an upcoming concert in Central New York.

The ’90s rock band was scheduled to perform at the Event Center at Turning Stone in Verona, NY on Thursday, January 2, 2025. However, the band announced that they canceled the show because the upcoming Aerosmith tour, which the Black Crowes were scheduled to open, was canceled.

“Due to the cancellation of the Aerosmith tour, unfortunately The Black Crowes’ January 2nd show at Turning Stone Resort Casino has also been cancelled,” Turning Stone Resort Casino said in a statement. “Refunds will be issued through the original point of purchase. Ticket holders will receive an email directly with further information.”

The Black Crowes, consisting of brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, reunited for the first time in 2019 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker. The group released eight studio albums between 1990 and 2009, including more than a dozen Top 10 rock hits, including “Hard to Handle,” “Jealous Again,” “She Talks to Angels,” “Blackberry,” “Only a Fool,” “Twice as Hard,” and “Remedy.”

The Robinson brothers famously split up the rock group several times and pursued several other projects, including the Chris Robinson Brotherhood and the Magpie Salute. The CNY concert would have celebrated their reunion and “Happiness Bastards,” their first studio album together in 15 years.

The Black Crowes were scheduled to open for Aerosmith on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group’s farewell tour, including a show on February 26, 2025, at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo. The Turning Stone performance would have taken place between tour dates with Aerosmith.

Earlier this month, Aerosmith abruptly ended its tour because lead singer Steven Tyler would not fully recover from his vocal injury. The rock band was originally scheduled to tour in 2023, but the performances were postponed after just three shows when Tyler, now 76, suffered a serious throat injury.

“It was a great honor for us that our music became part of yours. In every club, on every big tour and in big and private moments, you gave us a place in the soundtrack of your life,” the band said in a statement.

“We have always wanted to blow you away when we perform. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has worked tirelessly for months to get his voice back to its pre-injury state. We have seen him struggle despite having the best medical team by his side. Unfortunately, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult but necessary decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.”
