The Blue Whale Comedy Tour returns to the Tulsa Arts District

There’s plenty of laughs to be had throughout the Tulsa Arts District as the Blue Whale Comedy Tour returns.

Derek Combs is the event manager at Guthrie Green and was a guest on News On 6 at 4pm Wednesday to give us an overview of the event.

The Blue Whale Comedy Festival is in its ninth year in the Tulsa Arts District and will run August 22-24. The festival, which has grown significantly, will feature over 20 shows in seven venues, making it the largest in the event’s history.

This year’s headliners include acclaimed comedians Reggie Watts, Michael Longfellow, Beth Stelling, Casey Rocket, Geoffrey Asmus, Irene Tu, Josh Fadem and Johnny Pemberton. The festival has also attracted over 230 entries from comedians across North America, with a record number of out-of-state artists set to take the stage.

In addition to stand-up comedy, the festival also features improv groups from Nashville, Dallas, New York and Texas. These groups will perform in two separate showcases at the Fly Loft, with a workshop led by Nashville-based Cherry Bomb troupe.

The festival also features numerous other activities, including quizzes, karaoke, happy hours and after-parties.

Tickets are now available at bluewhalecomedyfestival.com and organizers recommend purchasing early as tickets sell out quickly.

Hosted by Guthrie Green, the Blue Whale Comedy Festival is the region’s largest comedy festival. Over the years, it has attracted notable comedians such as Nate Bargatze, Janelle James, Nikki Glaser and Eric Andre.
