The Dior Spa at the Hotel Cap Du Eden Roc combines Riviera glamour with massage

Why here?

There are countless reasons to stay at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France – assuming you can snag a reservation at the 118-room Riviera Grande Dame that has hosted F. Scott Fitzgerald, Marlene Dietrich, Pablo Picasso and 150 years of international celebrities. There are the ancient pines and manicured roses, the flowing champagne and, of course, the cliffside pool where 21st-century titans of film and fashion escape the flashlights of the Croisette during the Cannes Film Festival. But luxury and relaxation go hand in hand: every wish and request is fulfilled.

What is the mood?

There’s quiet luxury, and then there’s the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. The spa itself is located on the edge of the hotel, just beyond a centuries-old rose garden and a row of stately pine trees. Decorated in hues reminiscent of the rocky coastline, it’s an oasis of pale, sandy tones punctuated by white furnishings. Treatment rooms are outfitted in Dior’s signature textiles, with splashes of blue providing a visual echo of the sparkling sea. (Superfans of the brand will love the Cabine Dior, where every detail is outfitted in the brand’s iconic animal toile.) There, guests can experience four Dioriginel rituals that take advantage of the surrounding elements and are inspired by (and using ingredients from) the flowers of the adjacent garden. In further homage to the flora that enchanted Christian Dior, whose beloved Château de La Colle Noire is just a 45-minute drive away along a winding mountain road, there are also six holistic wellness “bouquets” – treatments that include a sequence of personalized protocols.

What is the story?

Since 1870, the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc has been one of the most famous luxury hotels in the world. Conceived in the 19th century as a retreat for writers, it came into its own in the first decades of the 20th century when a now iconic cliffside pool was carved out of the surrounding rock. In 1934, it was used as the backdrop for F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The night is tender. In the years that followed, it hosted famous love affairs (Marlene Dietrich and the writer Erich Maria Remarque) and famous artists (Picasso was invited to redesign the menu when he was a regular in the 1950s). The hotel and spa underwent a series of changes in the second half of the 20th century, and in 2023 – the same year the hotel celebrated its 150th anniversary – Dior took over the spa.

What should you try?

When Dior updated its treatment menu, it made an effort to focus not just on technology but also on touch. A Hydrafacial peeling machine, for example, is equipped with Dior’s own Floral Peeling Lotion, and three different full-body lymphatic drainage systems—using electrostimulation, microvibration and infrared light—relieve puffiness after a long-haul flight or before a cold dip in the Mediterranean. All treatment booths have sea views; leave the doors open so you can hear the birds singing. If a pink onyx hammam all by yourself on the coast sounds like heaven on earth, book the Roc Affusion treatment. During the 30-minute or hour-long treatment, the body is scrubbed, massaged and hydrated. All facials incorporate Dior’s skincare lines as well as manual techniques (like the Japanese Kobi-style facial massage in the Kobi Dior facial and Dior Cryo Regard to relieve puffiness).

What else do you need to know?

Spread over three buildings, the landmark has everything you need: bars, renowned restaurants, a spa, an outdoor pool, five tennis courts and more. Its majestic presence lines the French Riviera, so sit on the terrace and gaze at the sparkling waters below you. It’s a magical experience like no other.

Who can come here?

You don’t have to stay at the hotel to use the spa, but other on-site facilities (like the famous pool) are for hotel guests only.
