The Dutch airport Eindhoven is suspending all flights due to a disruption

At Eindhoven Airport, the Netherlands’ second-busiest airport, all flights have been suspended due to a network outage, officials said. Dutch authorities and emergency services are also affected by the outage.

The problem was discovered early Wednesday morning and none of the flights scheduled for around 7 a.m. were able to take off or land, leaving thousands of people stranded at the airport.

“We had a breakdown this morning, which is why air traffic is currently not possible,” said airport spokesman Gijs Vrenken. “We don’t know exactly what is going on and what impact it will have. That will determine what air traffic will look like for the rest of the day.”

The Ministry of Defence later confirmed that there were problems in its IT network, affecting not only the Ministry of Defence, but also Eindhoven Airport and other government agencies. “We are working hard on a solution,” the ministry said.

A device used by the emergency services also failed. “Due to a nationwide C2000 failure, the control center cannot communicate with the emergency services,” said a statement from a security region. The emergency number 112 was not affected.
