The ESPN Power Rankings are here! How high are the Texas Longhorns?

ESPN has released its 2024 preseason power rankings. Similar to the AP Top 25 and the US LBM Coaches Poll, Texas is ranked No. 4.

ESPN is one of the original innovators of the weekly Power Rankings. The network will release a new version of the Power Rankings each week during the season.

The Longhorns trail No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Oregon. Alabama is No. 5. The top 5 in the power rankings reflect both the AP and coaches’ top 5.

No. 4 Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns went on a revenge tour in their final season in the Big 12, making their first College Football Playoff appearance before falling to Washington in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. They have quarterback Quinn Ewers, with Arch Manning right behind him and a strong offensive line to make another run. But Ewers will have almost all-new players at receiver and running back positions — Texas already lost RB CJ Baxter to a knee injury — but Steve Sarkisian has a strong roster and still has four options in the backfield. The schedule takes a jump with the SEC schedule and a nonconference road game in Week 2 to Michigan before hosting Georgia in October. Two of the final three games are road games in hostile environments at Arkansas and Texas A&M, two teams that would love to rekindle their rivalries. — Dave Wilson, ESPN

Texas begins the season on August 31 at home against Colorado State.
