The second season of “Rings of Power” is just around the corner – and the first clip from the fantasy show is here.
In the footage that aired on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and can be seen below, we see Halbrand (aka Sauron) come face to face with Adar. Halbrand tells Adar that Galadriel has enlisted the help of a wizard to create a dangerous weapon – which sounds a lot like the One Ring to our ears – and Adar threatens to extract the information from him through torture in order to protect the Uruk-hai. Watch it below.

Of course, we know that Sauron is the mastermind behind the One Ring – and he has a dark past with Adar. This makes the whole scene a twisted mind game by the villain, with the ending remaining unclear for now.
This is Sam Hazeldine’s first appearance as Adar, taking over from Joseph Mawle. Any fears that Hazeldine is not up to the grim task should be put to rest once and for all with this new clip.
“We start in the darkness, an orc comes in and we see that thousands of orcs have gathered,” co-showrunner Patrick McKay previously told our sister publication Total Film about the opening scene of season two. “He’s just being crowned and he’s presenting his vision of Middle Earth. Just before they put the crown on his head, his right-hand man, Adar, turns it around and stabs him in the back. It’s the assassination of Sauron.”
Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will be released on Prime Video on August 29. In the meantime, check out our guide to the best shows on Prime Video to complete your watchlist.
