The five current WWE Superstars who are big comic book fans

Don’t think WWE Superstars can’t be comic book fans

What does professional wrestling have in common with the comic book world? Well, first of all, they both consist of a plethora of larger-than-life characters.

Both have a crazy fan base that sticks with them for life. Many celebrities are avid comic book fans, how can WWE wrestlers keep up? Here we take a look at five current WWE wrestlers who are huge comic book fans.

5. King Mysterio

The WWE’s Biggest Little Man himself seems to be a character straight out of a comic book. It’s no surprise that Rey Mysterio is a comic book fan.

He has demonstrated his love for the world of superheroes on numerous occasions by repeatedly dressing up as famous comic book characters.

Mysterio has dressed up as Wolverine, Spider-Man, Batman, and Captain America, to name a few, and each time he has pulled off all of these superhero looks to perfection.

4. Finn Balor

This member of Judgement Day is a huge fan of the comic book world. So much so that, like many die-hard fans, he collects comics.

Additionally, his fan-favorite demon persona is loosely inspired by the character Venom, who appears in the Spider-Man comics.

Just as Venom takes over Eddie Brock’s body, the demon personality takes possession of Balor to wreak havoc. The Irish artist has masterfully combined his love of comics with his creative vision to create a famous gimmick.

3. Cody Rhodes

The undisputed WWE Universal Champion has another passion than outmaneuvering his challengers. Cody Rhodes is admittedly a huge comic book geek and has read many of them over the years.

He especially enjoys reading Archangel, Omega Red and Cyclops comics from X-Men. Additionally, Rhodes has revealed that he wears secret comic symbols on his wrestling gear to show his affection for the mystical world.

The nickname “American Nightmare” seems to be heavily inspired by the comic book world. In short, Rhodes seems to embody his favorite superhero characters in real life.

2. Roman rule

When you imagine The Original Tribal Chief in all his glory, it’s hard to imagine him as a comic book fan.

But you might be surprised to know that Roman Reigns has always had a keen interest in comics. When he’s not destroying his opponents, the Anoa’i family member can be found digging into his favorite fictional heroes.

It’s no surprise that Reigns loves the character of Wolverine in the Marvel comics, as the X-Men member has anti-hero qualities just like him.

Furthermore, the leader of the bloodline, like many others, loves Superman, the “Man of Steel.” What better way to pay tribute to his hero than to name one of his signature moves after him, “The Superman Punch”?

1. CM Punk

CM Punk is another famous WWE wrestler who lives for comics. His first job was in a comic book store.

The Second City Saint has no qualms about sharing his love of comics with the world. Punk has taken his love of comics to a new level by taking on the role of writer for a handful of comics.

He wrote the foreword for Marvel’s AVENGERS VS X-MEN series in 2012. In addition, “The Voice of Voiceless” also wrote a story for the anthology series “Vertigo’s Strange Sports Stories” in 2015.

Punk’s arc in the WWE shares many similarities with a classic superhero character who starts out as an underdog but ultimately proves to be a force to be reckoned with.

It’s no wonder these WWE Superstars are humble with their fan base; after all, they know what it means to be a fanboy.
