The Goodtime Hotel | A lighthouse in South Beach

The Goodtime Hotel on historic Washington Avenue in South Beach is a serene blend of nostalgia and modern elegance. When in Miami, you may just want a good time. The name is apt: the undulating facade and airy atrium entrance set the scene for an Art Deco stay. But don’t be fooled—the brainchild of Groot Hospitality’s David Grutman and the legendary Pharrell Williams is all about contemporary style.

In collaboration with Michael D. Fascitelli and Eric Birnbaum of Imperial Companies, an entire city block between 6th and 7th Streets was transformed into a living celebration. The Goodtime Hotel, designed by architect Morris Adjmi, designer Ken Fulk and landscape architect Raymond Jungles, is a testament to their shared vision and creative intent.

“We wanted the Goodtime Hotel to convey a sense of revitalization and that rare, exhilarating thrill that comes over you when you discover something special,” Pharrell explains his intention. “It’s that adrenaline-fueled feeling of entering a completely new environment and a completely new mindset. This place offers a natural, good time to everyone who comes through.”

And that’s true, as the hotel’s 266 rooms offer a tranquil retreat, most with views of Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Culinary delights await at Grutman’s Strawberry Moon, a sprawling 30,000-square-foot poolside retreat that serves Mediterranean fare and fine cocktails in a warm atmosphere. Listen to the perfect summer DJs by the pool and even make it in time for the Summer Pool Party, which I really enjoyed because a bottle was served every 20 minutes to the minute. And then The Library, a space decorated in soft peach tones and natural oak, is a versatile place to enjoy coffee and cocktails or hold casual business meetings, and where I found refuge from the Miami heat. There’s also an invigorating gym equipped with MyBeast and Peloton machines that allows for focused workouts. Not to mention, just steps from the lobby is a carefully curated offering of retail experiences. Among others, Pure Green serves fresh cold-pressed juices and smoothies, Vilebrequin presents luxurious swimwear and resort wear, Vintage Frames offers vintage sunglasses and jewelry and F45 Hiit Training offers high-intensity fitness training.

Grutman says, “My first hotel had to be out of the ordinary.” Together, they are redefining the Miami Beach hotel landscape, creating not only a place for active enjoyment and living in the moment, but also for serene relaxation. In that sense, Goodtime Hotel perfectly bridges the gap between indulgence and quiet retreat, offering a lush, all-encompassing tropical escape – all the ingredients for a successful stay in Miami.

The water is warm in Miami and it’s even hotter at the Goodtime Hotel. Plan your stay here.
