THE KNOCKTURNAL takes part in the US OPEN Grand Slam Social at the IHG Hotel

Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Kimpton Hotel Eventi, Manhattan, New York—IHG Hotels & Resorts hosted the US Open Grand Slam Social at Kimpton Hotel Eventi (located at 851 6th Avenue New York, NY). The doors opend to the Kimpton Hotel promptly at 7:00 p.m. Guests in attendance were led to the cloakroom and escorted two floors upstairs, where they were warmly greeted by a stunning model in a tennis ball-print dress and carrying an IHG-print tennis rattle. She stood elegantly in what looked like the entrance to a private tennis court. An in-house DJ played an uptempo mix of pop, hip hop and house music to lighten the mood; on the other side of the room was an open bar where fine wines and cocktails were served to guests in attendance. In addition to refreshments and music to entertain guests, two tennis tables set up parallel to each other gave guests the opportunity to get up close and personal with the game.

To honor the long-standing cultural debate about whether a tennis ball is “green or yellow,” guests hopped on a tennis ball-themed, step-and-repeat activation; photography and film were provided by The Bosco. The exhibit served to introduce party guests to an extravagant tennis ball-themed suite designed at select IHG hotels in honor of the US Open. The design of the step-and-repeat, similar to the “IHG Rally Room”Designed for both sides of the court; split in the middle by a tennis court centerline, one half of the backdrop featured bright green decor and the other half featured eye-catching yellow accents. The green side features bright green decor, green sneakers, and tennis accessories, while the yellow side features bright yellow decor, retro charm, and yellow high-tops for an elevated tennis look.
