The KOJC’s lawyer asked Baste and the city council to issue a cease and desist order on the PNP’s activities in the KOJC

Kingdom of Jesus Christ legal counsel Israelito Torreon claimed that PNP chief Rommel Marbil and PRO XI director Nicolas Torre III planned to blow up a suspected bunker next to the elevator of the JMC Law School.

Police officers suspected that Pastor Apollo Quiboloy might be hiding there.

“They are planning to bomb the area because they believe there is a bunker there where Pastor Apollo Quiboloy could be hiding. We hope they do not carry out this plan. Three days ago they only showed us one arrest warrant, and that was against Sylvia Cemanes.”

The address on the warrant is in Pasig City. According to Section 113 of the Rules of Court, the warrant does not authorize a search of property if the address on the warrant is not related to the property of another person.

“This is the first time we have seen such an unprecedented use of a warrant to conduct a large-scale search and destroy property of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ,” Torreon said.

“This is a grave violation of the human rights of the KOJC members who own the property. We call on the President of the Republic of the Philippines to stop this illegal operation. We call on the Philippine National Police to stop this operation as they cannot invoke Section 17C of the Anti-Human Trafficking Act to justify their actions. The warrant did not authorize a search of the KOJC properties.”

“Under the Constitution, a warrant cannot be used to search all KOJC properties. There is no legal basis for this. Warrants are directed against individuals, not against properties.”

“When serving search warrants, witnesses are required by court rules. In contrast, the service of arrest warrants was very disorganized and there were almost no witnesses present.

Now they have placed bombs in part of the JMC compound and prevented anyone from entering the compound. They allegedly want to destroy the bunker.

However, their heart detector could not detect anything. We call on the PNP to stop and desist from this illegal operation. We hope that General Marbil and General Torre will reconsider and stop this operation immediately.”

“We request Mayor Sebastian Duterte to exercise his powers under Section 17 of the Local Government Code of the Philippines for the benefit of the public,” he said.

The local government code requires consultation and coordination with the local government. Therefore, we also call on Mayor Baste Duterte to immediately convene a meeting of the local peace and order council and request General Marbil and General Torre to attend the meeting.”

“To explain their actions regarding the KOJC compound, and if the Committee for Peace and Order finds these actions irregular or illegal, they should issue a resolution ordering the PNP to leave the KOJC compound. If necessary, they could seal off our facility if they believe Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is there even if we believe he is not there.”

“We urge Mayor Baste Duterte to immediately convene the local Peace and Order Council, ask General Marbil and General Torre to explain their actions and issue a resolution asserting his authority as the local government head and ordering the PNP to vacate the premises. This will help ease tensions, especially since classes start tomorrow.”

“How do our students gain access to our beloved institution?” Torreon said.

“We also call on the Davao City Council to convene an emergency meeting and issue a resolution with the utmost respect condemning the actions of the PNP at the KOJC compound.

“If necessary, the council should order the PNP to leave the premises as their activities under the warrant have become clearly and blatantly illegal. The PNP should be ordered not to bomb any part of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ premises,” he added.
