The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power unleashes the second age of Middle-earth’s history in Singapore; here’s everything we know

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is returning very soon with the highly anticipated second season on August 29, 2024 on Prime Video. But just before the series hit its world wide debut, it delved into the era of Middle Earth’s history in Singapore. Just before the world premiere, the entire cast and creators visited Singapore for an Asia Pacific screening.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings the heroic legends of Middle-earth’s famous Second Age to life on screen for the first time. Set thousands of years before the events of JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, this epic drama transports viewers back to an era when great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by a thread, and the greatest villain ever to emerge from Tolkien’s pen threatened to plunge the world into darkness.

The series begins in a time of relative calm and follows a cast of people both familiar and new as they face the long-feared return of evil to Middle-earth. From the Misty Mountains to the majestic forests of the Elven capital of Lindon and the stunning island kingdom of Númenor to the farthest reaches of the world, these realms and characters leave behind a legacy that will endure long after they are gone.

Speaking of the ensemble cast, the star-studded cast was also present in Singapore, including Charlie Vickers, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Markella Kavenagh, Charles Edwards, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Tyroe Muhafidin and Trystan Gravelle. The showrunners also graced everyone with their presence. JD Payne and director Charlotte Brändstörm were also present at the event.

The momentous event was opened by David Simonsen, Director of Amazon Prime Video SEA and MENA, followed by the grand screening. The team of this highly anticipated series also took to the city and visited one of its main attractions, Gardens By The Bay. During their tour, the team attended a special screening of the first two episodes of the series, which was attended by media representatives from Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines and India as well as enthusiastic fans of the series.

The upcoming season builds on the epic scope and ambition of the first season. The new season plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world teetering on the brink of disaster. As friendships are tested and kingdoms begin to fracture, elves, dwarves, orcs, humans, wizards and harfoots face a growing struggle. In the face of mounting odds, the forces of good fight fiercely to keep what matters most to them: each other. Don’t forget to tune in to Prime Video on August 29, 2024 to catch the full season.
